WHO IS AGLOCHICAGO?
The LGBT Catholic community in Chicago has been gathering for Mass since 1971 when Mary Houlihan of the Legion of Mary first began hosting Masses in her home. The call of faith to provide a welcoming place for LGBT Catholics, often marginalized within our church, has been strong and many people have and continue to minister to the community.
AGLOChicago was founded through the efforts of several members of Chicago LGBT community working together with Joseph Cardinal Bernardin to provide a ministry of outreach from within the Catholic church. The Archdiocesan Gay and Lesbian Outreach of Chicago, AGLOChicago, is a supra-parochial organization begun in June 1988 to extend the Church’s pastoral outreach to gay and lesbian Catholics throughout the Archdiocese. HISTORY
We, the members of the Archdiocesan Gay and Lesbian Outreach, as people of God, create a sense of community for those who wish to reconcile their sexual orientation with their faith; provide an accepting and affirming atmosphere in which to worship in the Catholic tradition; provide opportunities for integration of personal experience through spiritual growth; share our distinctive gifts with each other and the Church at large, and witness our Catholic faith to the gay and lesbian community.
We invite you to join us in worship at Mass each and every Sunday at 7:00 pm at our host parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. LOCATION

OUR CHAPLAINS
The AGLOChicago community is served by a dedicated group of chaplains who preside at our liturgies and gatherings several times throughout the year. These dedicated priests are pastors from parishes in the Archdiocese, as well as priests from religious orders serving in a variety of missions.
On multiple occasions, we have been honored to have both the late Joseph Cardinal Bernardin and the late Cardinal Francis George, OMI preside at liturgies.
OUR EXECUTIVE BOARD
As a lay organization, the leadership of AGLOChicago consists of an all volunteer Executive Board which is elected by the members for a two-year term. While each board member cares for different aspects of our ministry, they work together, with guidance from our Moderator to provide the Church's outreach to the LGBT community in Chicago.
